626 Golden Streets Promotes Fitness in South Pasadena Again!

Runners at the 626 Golden Streets event prepared to start!

On Sunday May 19, 2019 the Annual 626 Golden Streets event once again closed off some South Pasadena streets to automobile traffic – allowing runners, bikers and walkers of all descriptions to stroll through South Pasadena unencumbered.

This year’s event route began on Mission Street in South Pas with a 5K run – and continued down Mission to Marengo Avenue and continued down Alhambra Road.

The race is on!

The 5 mile route featured distinct activity hubs in each of the 5 downtown areas along the route. Mission Street in South Pasadena was lined with vendor tents and fun giveaways at the booths. Also in attendance was the 626 Golden Streets mascot – Gabe the Sasquatch! Restaurants and local businesses along the route also participated by offering specials for the 626 Golden Streets participants.

Local politicians were also on hand to congratulate the event organizers and participants.

A great time was had by all despite a coolish day in South Pas for May. There will be another 626 Golden Streets event later this year on October 2th.

Congratulations to all the participants and organizers, especially Jose and Xotchitl Zavala! See you at the next 626 Golden Streets!
