Happy 4th of July everyone! South Pasadena has a tradition of throwing a great party on Independence Day – and 2019 was no exception. The day kicks off with a pancake breakfast, followed by the big “Festival of Balloons” parade, and follows up with amazing fireworks at South Pasadena High School in the evening.
I was positioned near the beginning of the parade route on Mission Street and had the privilege of seeing all the great groups proceed down towards Garfield Park.
The weather was glorious – it wasn’t nearly as hot as in recent years. Everyone was smiling and having a great time. Much of South Pasadena was either in the parade or watching the parade.
As usual there were many local groups like the Boy Scouts, SPEF, SPARC and plenty of marching bands. The antique cars were a fixture again this year – along with a NEW vehicle: The Ace Hardware delivery van! Of course many of our local politicians rode down the street as well.
Here are a few more pics of the parade. I’m wishing everyone a happy 4th from here in South Pasadena!
